Barcelona have joined the race to sign Ajax star Frenkie de Jong, who is also being tracked by Premier League duo Tottenham and Manchester City.
De Jong, 21, is one of the most sought-after young midfielder’s in Europe after a recent run of impressive performances in Holland.
Barca are thought to now be leading the race for his signature and have been linked with making a £70million move for the Dutch international in January.
However, according to reports in Spain, the Catalan club will wait until December before launching a bid to try and lure the player to the Camp Nou.
Despite mounting interest in the midfielder, the Spanish giants are prepared to wait until just before the window reopens before making a final decision, according to Sport.
Barca reportedly want to see De Jong in action in the Champions League group stages before they decide to go ahead with their bid or not.
These latest rumours could come as good news for both Tottenham and Manchester City as they continue to closely monitor the youngster’s progression and could make their approach before Barcelona get their chance.
