Tottenham transfer news: Spurs have £300,000 bid turned down by Leyton Orient for defender Dan Happe

Tottenham have had a £300,000 bid for defender Dan Happe rejected by Leyton Orient.

The 20-year-old is also wanted by Leicester City, Leeds and newly-promoted Norwich, report The Sun.

Happe made his first-team breakthrough at Orient last season and helped them win promotion from the National League into League Two last season, making 20 appearances.

The 6ft 5 centre-back recently entered the final 12 months of his deal, but Orient want more than what Spurs have offered and hope to agree a season-long loan return with any buying club.

Leeds struck a similar deal with the Champions League finalists for the teenage winger Jack Clarke, who penned a four-year contract with Spurs, but will remain on loan at Elland Road for the duration of the 2019/20 season.

It has been a busy week for Spurs, who signed Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for a club record £55m fee.

The deal for Ndombele, which includes a further £10m in add-ons, shatters the club’s previous transfer record of £42m, paid to Ajax for Davinson Sanchez in 2017.

After becoming the first team in Premier League history to go two consecutive transfer windows without signing a single player, Spurs spent more than £65m in one day.
