Tony Cascarino says Tottenham need to sign a proven winner this summer.
Spurs have lost three of their last four Premier League games and will go a fifth trophyless season under Mauricio Pochettino unless they win the Champions League in June.
And Cascarino believes Tottenham need players such as Thiago Silva and Luka Modric to “demand more” from Pochettino.
Silva has won every domestic honour with Paris Saint-Germain in France, while former Spurs ace Modric is a four-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid.
Cascarino told The Times: “Tottenham Hotspur need to sign a proven winner.
“There is no one in the squad who can test Mauricio Pochettino, judge the mood of the dressing room and be unafraid to be outspoken.

“Potential is great, but the missing link is an established winner.
“Harry Kane is the talisman, but he is a Tottenham man and is never going to demand more from Pochettino, never going to go in and ruffle feathers.
“They should aim to sign a big-name player. Real Madrid will be having a fire sale in the summer – could Spurs bring Luka Modric back?
“Paris Saint-Germain have financial fair play to contend with, could Spurs sign Thiago Silva?”
Tottenham have gone through two transfer windows without signing anyone.
And after relegation-threatened Southampton came from behind to beat Spurs 2-1 on Saturday, Pochettino admitted his team might have reached their limit.
He told talkSPORT: “It’s a difficult thing, we are talking about the last nearly five years to change a mentality.
“That is a clear example that we are still not mature enough.

“When you talk a lot and when you find a lot of solution, it’s only one way, it’s to try to change, making different decisions that’s from the past.
“Of course, maybe that is our limit. It’s a little bit sad, but maybe we need to start to think that we need to operate in a different way from the start of next season.”
Tottenham are just three points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United with eight games to go in a race for a top-four spot.
