Arsenal transfer news: West Ham defender Reece Oxford wants to join Gunners in the summer

Reece Oxford is prepared to wait until the summer to seal a move away from West Ham United and head to Arsenal.

The 20-year-old has had two loan spells with Borussia Monchengladbach and the Hammers are keen to sell him to a German club, but the defender wants to remain in England, report the Mirror.

He was also sent on loan to Championship side Reading, where he played five times in the second half of the 2016/17 season.

West Ham would want around £3million for the defender who has come through the ranks at the club, having begun his youth career at Tottenham.

Despite his current deal expiring in 2021, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has warned Oxford might have to leave the club to get regular football.

Arsenal are in desperate need to bolster defence with a number of injuries stretching Unai Emery’s limited resources.

Oxford made his Premier League debut against Arsenal in 2015

Laurent Koscielny has just returned after eight months out, Rob Holding suffered a cruciate ligament injury in November and Nacho Monreal is often sidelined by muscular niggles. Hector Bellerin is out with a calf strain and Shkodran Mustafi’s comeback lasted 45 minutes in the 5-1 thrashing against Liverpool.

It was against Arsenal that Oxford made his Premier League debut against as a 16-year-old, playing 79 minutes and impressing in a 2-0 win for West Ham at Emirates Stadium in 2015.

Manchester City transfer news: Brahim Diaz ‘close’ to completing Real Madrid move for £15.5million with shock Man United clause

Brahim Diaz is reportedly close to completing a £15.5million move from Manchester City to Real Madrid.

The talented 19-year-old has agreed to leave the current Premier League champions after a lack of first-team opportunities.

Brahim Diaz is close to signing for Real Madrid

Diaz cost City an initial £200,000 when he signed from Malaga five years ago.

The fee for the midfielder could rise to £20million including bonuses.

City would then receive a significant percentage of the transfer fee if he is then sold by Real.

Should that move be to Manchester United, then they would be entitled to 40 per cent, according to the Daily Mail.

He has reportedly been offered a six-year contract with Madrid worth more than £60,000 a week.

Diaz would also go straight into the senior squad rather than joining the Castilla side.

Chelsea transfer news: Tammy Abraham close to signing for Wolves on loan for the rest of the season

Tammy Abraham is reportedly close to joining Wolves on loan from Chelsea.

The striker has been on loan with Aston Villa in the Championship this season and has scored 16 goals.

Tammy Abraham is close to joining Wolves on loan

The in-form player is reportedly ready to quit Aston Villa’s promotion challenge in favour of Premier League football with Wolves.

He is expected to join the club on loan next week for the remainder of the campaign, according to Sky Sports.

Wolves are still waiting for the green light from Fifa to complete the deal as Abraham has played for both Villa and Chelsea (in the Community Shield and an under-23s game) this season.

The FA and the Premier League have both given their approval for the deal and they are just waiting on Fifa to do the same.

It is expected to be given early next week meaning he could make his debut for Wolves against Manchester City on January 14.

Wolves had reportedly had a bid of £18million accepted for the striker but the deal would just be for a loan move.

Aaron Ramsey: Peter Crouch confused as Arsenal midfielder is set to leave on a free transfer in the summer

Peter Crouch is baffled that Arsenal are allowing Aaron Ramsey to leave on a free transfer in the summer with a number of top European clubs after his signature.

Ramsey is out of contract with the Gunners at the end of the season and has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with Juventus.

Peter Crouch has commented on the Aaron Ramsey transfer situation

Writing in his column in the Daily Mail, Peter Crouch says he is baffled by the whole situation and that he believes it will cost them far more to bring someone in to replace his quality.

“No situation with a player has confused me more this season than Arsenal and Aaron Ramsey,” he said.

“I said in August that it made no sense to let him leave.

“Here we are in January, he keeps playing and making a contribution and my view hasn’t changed.

Aaron Ramsey will leave Arsenal in the summer

“It will be Arsenal’s loss when Ramsey goes because it will cost them a fortune in terms of a transfer fee and wages to find someone of comparable ability. He, however, will look at it as a great opportunity and a new start will give him a new lease of life.

Gareth Bale thrived when he left the Premier League and it would not surprise me if Ramsey did the same. Whoever signs him will be getting a top-class performer.”

The Italian media are reporting the 28-year-old has been offered a five-year deal with a fixed salary of £5.85million per year at Juventus, which is a small upgrade on his current Arsenal deal.

Juve are will to give him an £8million signing on bonus and pay him an extra £449,000 if he plays 50 per cent of their games in a season. This would then rise to £900,000 if he plays in 70 per cent.

Ramsey reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with Juventus on Thursday, but there has been no official confirmation of this.

Chelsea transfer news: Blues close in on Gonzalo Higuain swap deal with Alvaro Morato heading to AC Milan

Chelsea are close to completing a swap deal with Gonzalo Higuain joining them and Alvaro Morata heading to AC Milan on loan.

Maurizio Sarri appears to have run out of patience with the former Real Madrid forward, preferring Eden Hazard in the lone striking role in recent weeks and has decided to make his move, according to the Sun.

Morata has struggled again this season

It has been another indifferent season for Morata, who has netted just seven times in all competitions this season, five of those coming in the Premier League.

Since his £60m move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2017, the 26-year-old has largely struggled for form and confidence, marking his competitive debut with a miss in the penalty shoot-out defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield.

With Olivier Giroud the only other striker at his disposal, Sarri is keen to bolster his attack and wants to reunite with Higuain who he worked with during the 2015/16 season at Napoli.

Gonazlo Higuain has long been a target for Chelsea

The Argentine international had been linked with a move to West London back in the summer when he was loaned out by Juventus to accommodate the purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Morata, who has not scored for Chelsea since November, is also wanted by Sevilla.

Liverpool transfer news: Adam Lallana will not leave Anfield on loan this month

Liverpool have said midfielder Adam Lallana will not leave Anfield on loan this month.

A series of injuries have limited his game time in recent months and he has made just eight appearances this season as he recovers from a groin strain.

Lallana has made just eight appearances this season

Fenerbahce are among the clubs keen on signing the England international, but according to Sky Sports, Jurgen Klopp is keen on the 30-year-old reintegrating into the first-team in the coming months as the club push for the Premier League title.

A 2-1 loss at Manchester City in midweek reduced their lead at the top to just four points and their next league match is away to Brighton on January 12.

Lallana signed for Liverpool from Southampton for £25million upon returning from the 2014 World Cup, under then manager Brendan Rodgers and has since made 148 appearances and scored 21 times.

On Friday, Liverpool loaned Nathaniel Clyne and sold striker Dominic Solanke for £19m – both to Bournemouth – meaning the chances of another first-team squad man moving on look even more unlikely.

West Ham transfer window gossip: Five midfielders Hammers could sign, including Chelsea and Tottenham stars

Manuel Pellegrini will be aiming to strengthen his West Ham United squad this month.

After losing the first four games of the Premier League season, Pellegrini has led the Hammers to tenth in the Premier League and will have an eye on European qualification.

Pellegrini may look to invest heavily again this month

The midfield area in particular, though, is massively stretched and the Chilean boss will surely be looking to bring in reinforcements this month.

With summer signings Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez picking up potentially season-ending injuries already this campaign, resources are limited.

It could be argued the engine room has been a problem area for the east Londoners ever since the combative Scott Parker left for rivals Spurs in 2011.

So, without further ado, here are five potential signings Pellegrini could make to strengthen his midfield in this month’s transfer window.

Victor Wanyama – Tottenham Hotspur

Wanyama would provide steel and stamina to the midfield

The Kenyan enforcer has lost his place in the Tottenham midfield due to a torrid run of niggling injuries and looks set to leave.

However, on his day he is virtually unplayable. Strong, quick and with incredible reading of the game, Wanayam would be an excellent addition to the West Ham midfield.

However, his aforementioned injury record is woeful – he has started just one league game this season and missed much of the past two seasons.

Jonjo Shelvey – Newcastle United

The Londoner could be keen on a return home

Last year, chairman David Sullivan scoffed at suggestions the Hammers could be about to bring in Shelvey from Newcastle.

However, the midfielder continues to excel in the North-East and would surely be worth a punt as a squad member at the very least.

He is a Londoner at heart and, with Mike Ashley’s reluctance to spend, a transfer could suit both parties.

James McCarthy – Everton

If fit, he could be a shrewd addition

Last season McCarthy was ruled out of action after a gruesome injury left him with a broken tibia and fibula and requiring surgery.

The 27-year-old is set for a return to action in the FA Cup this weekend and is hoping to recapture his best form.

Although this is a move which would have been welcomed last season, it is hard to see the Hammers board sanctioning a move for a player who has played such little football in the past 12 months.

Amadou Diawara – Napoli

Inexperienced certainly, but has lots of potential for the future

The Guinean midfielder is slowly but surely establishing himself as one of the brightest prospects in Serie A with his performances for Napoli.

Carlo Ancelotti is using the 21-year-old sparingly so as to ease him into the rigours of senior football. However, it will not be long before he is demanding a regular starting berth.

West Ham have spent silly money on veteran players in previous windows, so buying for the future may well be the way forward.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – Chelsea

The promise of regular games could convince the Blues midfielder to cross the Thames

The England international’s incredible rise from the Chelsea reserves to the World Cup was one of the success stories of last season. However, his game time has been limited this time around.

On loan at Crystal Palace, Loftus-Cheek showed he had the technical ability and the physical prowess to cause problems for even the most experienced midfielders in the division.

With his international career stuttering somewhat, a move to a Premier League club safe from the clutches of relegation which could still offer him regular game time could well be the springboard he needs.

Beijing Sinobo Guoan have made an approach to sign Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele. Unai Emery is urging Arsenal to retain Aaron Ramsey until the end of the season, rather than cash in on the midfielder in January. (London Evening Standard)

Reece Oxford is ready to wait until the summer to get a move to Arsenal. West Ham are keen to sell in January and are pushing a move to a German club with Borussia Monchengladbach keen to sign the 20-year-old defender. But it is understood Oxford would prefer to stay in England rather than go back to Germany where he has already had two loan spells at Monchengladbach. (Daily Mirror)

The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot will join Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer. The 23-year-old’s contract runs out in the summer and he has agreed a signing on fee of €10m (£9m) as well as a salary of just over £170,000 a week for five years with the La Liga leaders. (Guardian)

Barcelon are on the verge of signing Rabiot

Manchester City have failed in a bid to sign highly-rated teenager Jean Clair Todibo from Toulouse, with the Frenchman close to sealing a move to Barcelona.  Todibo, 19, is considered one of the best young central defenders in European football, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season he was coveted by many of the continent’s top sides. Huddersfield Town confirm signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon on loan until the end of the season

Jason Puncheon has completed a loan move to Huddersfield Town from Crystal Palace.

The 32-year-old has signed on a deal until the end of the season and will wear the No.42 shirt at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Jason Puncheon will play for Huddersfield until the end of the season

Puncheon has been limited to eight appearances in all competitions this term, with his only starts coming in the Carabao Cup games against Swansea, West Brom and Middlesbrough.

Terriers boss Wagner told the club’s official website: “It is important that our additions in January have the ability to arrive and make an immediate impact in our team, which I’m sure Jason can.

“He has played in this division for nearly a decade now and knows what it takes to be successful.

“As well as being a very good player, he is a great character. He has been the captain of Crystal Palace and is a real leader in the dressing room, which is something we wanted to add too.”

The versatile midfielder has racked up nearly 200 appearances in the top flight for Palace, Blackpool, Southampton and Queens Park Rangers.

In 2016, he opened the scoring for the Eagles in the FA Cup Final against Manchester United, but Alan Pardew’s side were unable to hold on.

Newcastle United transfer news: Rafael Benitez declines to speak about Mario Balotelli speculation

Rafael Benitez has declined to comment on speculation linking Newcastle United with a January move for Mario Balotelli.

Benitez is reportedly keen on bringing the Italian forward back to England as he is in desperate need of goals.

Balotelli is on the radar of Newcastle

Newcastle have scored just 15 league goals this season, the second fewest in the Premier League.

The Mirror reported on Friday that the Magpies are ready to offer the striker, who is currently at Ligue 1 club Nice, a chance to fire them out of relegation trouble.

Balotelli could be set for a return to the Premier League

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie against Blackburn, Benitez said with a smile: “I saw that, but you know that I will not talk about the transfer window.”

Balotelli was sold to Manchester City from Inter in 2010 and scored 30 goals in 80 appearances, winning the FA Cup and Premier League at the Etihad.

The 28-year-old spent a season at AC Milan, before signing for Liverpool in a £16million move in 2014, but he scored just one Premier League goal in his time on Merseyside and ended up back in Milan on loan before moving to Nice in 2016.

So far this campaign, Balotelli is yet to register a single goal for Nice in 10 appearances.
