Manchester United transfer news: Zinedine Zidane hints he could bring Paul Pogba to Real Madrid in the future

Zinedine Zidane has suggested Real Madrid could make a move for Paul Pogba in the future as he lavished praise on his compatriot.

The Manchester United midfielder was linked with move to rivals Barcelona in the summer after falling out with former boss Jose Mourinho.

Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United could well come under scrutiny

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment as caretaker, and then permanent manager has heralded an upturn in Pogba’s form.

But the World Cup winner has again flirted with the possibility of moving to Spain, by admitting it would be a dream to play for Real.

And former France midfielder Zidane admitted a move in the future would not be beyond the realms of possibility.

“I like Pogba a lot, it’s nothing new,” he said.

Zinedine Zidane recently returned to Real Madrid

“I know him personally. He’s a different kind of player, he brings so much and there are few players who bring as much as he does.

“He’s a midfielder who knows how to defend and how to attack. He knows how to do everything on the pitch.”

1998 Ballon d’Or winner Zidane has been linked with numerous Premier League stars as he aims to create a new breed of Galacticos during his second spell in charge at the Bernabeu.

Although it would surely take an exorbitant sum to prise Pogba away from Old Trafford for a second time, Los Blancos have a history of getting the stars they want.

And the lure of playing for Zidane could well be the added incentive for a modern footballer.

The Frenchman added: “He [Pogba] is not part of my squad, he plays at United and what he’s said about Real Madrid and his desire to come here, if one day he gets the chance when he wants to leave United….if, when he finishes his experience at United, he wants to come here, why shouldn’t he come to Real Madrid?”

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane says Gareth Bale’s future will be decided in the summer as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur wait

Zinedine Zidane has revealed Gareth Bale’s future will be decided at the end of the season.

The Real Madrid manager has revealed Bale will play a key part in the final 10 games of the season, but refused to give any assurances beyond that.

Gareth Bale could well be on the move in the summer

A four-time Champions League winner at the Bernabeu, the Wales international has never managed to win the support of the fans in Madrid.

Injuries have largely disrupted his Los Blancos career but, when called upon, Bale has delivered on the biggest stages.

Despite this, speculation about his poor relationship with his teammates has tainted his time in the Spanish capital.

And World Cup-winner Zidane refused to rule out a move away in the summer.

Bale and Zidane have endured a rocky relationship

“Gareth is an important member of the squad,” Zidane said, ahead of Sunday’s league match against Huesca.

“We know what he has done here, even in Champions League finals.

“Nobody can take away what he has done. We know he can bring a lot to the team, and we will count on him.

“We are going to play these 10 games [the last 10 of the season], and then we will see. That does not mean that, afterwards, there will be changes.”

Manchester United have been linked with Bale even before his move to Madrid in 2013 and a summer move may well be on the cards.

And former side Tottenham Hotspur have also been reportedly exploring the possibility of securing a return for the 29-year-old.

Bale left Spurs five-and-a-half-years ago in a world record £86million move.

Matthijs de Ligt: Arsenal and Liverpool transfer target admits he could sign for Juventus

Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt admits he could join Juventus.

The Serie A champions, Arsenal, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs are all admirers of the Netherlands international.

Matthijs de Ligt regularly captains Ajax

Ajax knocked Real Madrid out of the Champions League earlier this month to set up a last-eight tie with Juventus.

While praising Juventus defenders Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini, De Ligt, 19, dropped a big hint about his next move.

The £75million-rated youngster said: “I really like Chiellini, he is very strong, one of the best ever defenders.

“I also appreciate Bonucci, they are two of the best centre-backs in Europe. For a young man like me, they are both two models to be inspired by.

“Me at Juve? It could be, but there are also other interested clubs. We’ll see at the right time.

Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini are regarded as two of the world’s best defenders

“Now, I’m focused on Ajax and my agent Mino Raiola will take care of it.”

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov suggested De Ligt’s international team-mate and Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk could help him move to Old Trafford.

He said: “One player I would love to see at Old Trafford is Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, although I know every big club in Europe is after him.

“I watched him play against Real Madrid and he looks the real deal – so confident and assured for a player of his age.

“Having his international team-mate Virgil Van Dijk already in the Premier League could be a boost for any English team chasing De Ligt.

“The Liverpool man will be telling him how good the league is and that can make a real difference to where you choose to go.”

Leicester City transfer news: Brendan Rodgers confident of permanent deal for Youri Tielemans despite Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United interest

Leicester City are confident they can sign Youri Tielemans on a permanent deal despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Tielemans has quickly established himself as a popular figure at the club since signing on loan from Monaco in January, in a deal that saw Adrien Silva move in the opposite direction.

Youri Tielemans is on loan from Monaco

The Ligue 1 side have put a £40million price tag on the midfielder amid growing speculation that Spurs and United want to hijack the move.

The 21-year-old scored his first goal for Belgium last week during their 3-1 win over Russia.

Brendan Rodgers said the club is pushing ahead with the move despite the departure of their head of recruitment earlier this month.

Monaco reportedly want £40m for Tielemans

Rodgers told SunSport: “The work is ongoing. Of course there is a hole in terms of the head of recruitment role.

“However work has been going on below that and conversations with Monaco are taking place. There are a lot of good people behind the scenes who are continuing the work.

“It is an important one for us because we want to strengthen in the summer.”

If they were to sign Tielemans for £40million it would smash their transfer record. Their previous highest fee paid was £30million for Islam Slimani from Sporting Lisbon in August 2016.

Lozano scored in Mexico’s 3-1 win against Chile over the international break.

National team boss Gerardo Martino believes Lozano is capable of playing for Europe’s elite clubs.

“I think Hirving has had an influential time in Holland and shown he can be a player who is incredibly valuable and can make the jump to the biggest clubs in Europe.

“It’s clear. I think from the analysis side of the player, he’s absolutely ready.”

Arsenal transfer news: Gunners ‘win race’ to sign 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal ‘have a verbal agreement’ to sign wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli.

The 17-year-old currently plays for Brazilian club Ituano and the Gunners have been keeping a close eye on his progress.

They have verbally agreed a deal and will pay around £5million for the striker, according to Yahoo in Brazil.

Martinelli is highly thought of and even had a trial with Manchester United in 2017.

It has been suggested that Arsenal are waiting for the teenager to get an Italian passport before making the move official.

This means they would not have to negotiate potential visa and work permit issues.

A number of top clubs in Europe are understood to have been watching Martinelli’s progress.

Palmeiras and Flamengo were also monitoring him but it would appear that the Gunners have won the race.

His agent, Marcos Casseb, also revealed recently that he plans on making the move to Europe soon.

“To be honest we expected this to happen,” Casseb told Globo Esporte when asked about the interest shown in the teenager.

“His evolution since last year is very fast, he is above average. The initial planning is for him to go straight to Europe.”

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo remaining calm over future of loan star Raul Jimenez

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is not panicking over the future of loan star Raul Jimenez.

The Mexico international, who has scored 15 goals since joining Wolves on loan from Benfica last summer, has made it clear he wants to make his move permanent at the end of the season.

Raul Jimenez is leading Wolves’ Europa League push

And the club are reportedly on the verge of signing the 27-year-old in a £25million deal, which would eclipse the £18million club-record fee they paid Middlesbrough for Adama Traore.

When asked about Jimenez’s future, Nuno said: “I know we have to make a decision, but the right moment will be the moment that will involve all the parts and then we will announce it for sure.

“It is the same situation. We know we have time to make a decision.

Jimenez opened the scoring for Wolves in their FA Cup win over Manchester United to set up a semi-final date with Watford next weekend.

His goals have also helped  Wolves climb to seventh in the Premier League in an unlikely Europa League push.

After the United game, the striker revealed he would like to stay at the club beyond the 2018/19 season.

He said: “I like it very much here. I’m enjoying the team and how I play. It feels very good to be here.

“I was looking for this sort of feeling since I arrived in Europe, to have this confidence and the games.

“Now that I have it, I don’t want to lose it. We all know that we are a team and we are all important here.”

Manchester United transfer news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘wants’ Juventus winger Douglas Costa but could face competition

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Juventus winger Douglas Costa.

Tuttosport claim Costa is set to leave the Serie A giants in the summer with a number of top clubs interested.

Douglas Costa is reportedly set to leave Juventus in the summer

The Brazilian impressed during a loan spell in Turin last season but has only scored once in 24 appearances since making his move from Bayern Munich permanent.

The Italian publication report that Juve are hoping the 28-year-old’s availability will trigger a bidding war in order to get more than £50million.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was made permanent manager this week

They paid around £34million for the winger just 12 months ago but are looking for an increase in their investment.

United face tough competition, though, to bring him to Old Trafford as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be keen.

Costa was linked to a move to the Red Devils while Jose Mourinho was in charge.

Now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been confirmed as their permanent boss he will now set about building his squad but insisted he will not splash the cash for the sake of it.
