West Ham transfer news: Hammers plot January move for Chelsea defender Gary Cahill

West Ham are weighing up a potential January move for Chelsea’s Gary Cahill, according to reports.

The 32-year-old defender will be out of contract at the club come the end of this season, and he’s not starting for the Blues in the Premier League at present.

Cahill has had just two starts for Chelsea in 2018/19, one in the Europa League and the other in the League Cup

It is claimed by the Mirror that Manuel Pellegrini’s side are therefore eyeing Cahill up as a possible mid-season signing from their London rivals.

The Chilean manager is understood to have the backing of West Ham’s board in January as the club begin to recover following a poor start to the season.

The Hammers lost their first four league matches, before securing two big wins against Everton and Manchester United either side of a draw with Chelsea.

Despite that recent upturn in results, the side lost their last fixture 1-0 at Brighton and still undoubtedly lack defensive stability, having kept just one clean sheet in their first eight matches of the new Premier League campaign.

Chelsea transfer news: Blues reportedly set to make £20million offer for Italian teenage sensation Sandro Tonali

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a £20million move for 18-year-old Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali.

The Italian youngster, who often plays a defensive role in the middle of the park, is said to be of interest to Italian giants such as Juventus, Milan, Inter and Roma. However the Blues are looking to steal a march on the Serie A sides.

Sandro Tonali has been touted for a call-up to Italy’s first team after performing well with the under-19s

According to the Sun, Maurizio Sarri sent club scouts to watch Tonali during Brescia’s 4-1 win over Padova in Italy’s second division last weekend.

It is understood that the now-Chelsea manager first expressed his interest while still Napoli boss last season, and is now plotting a £20million bid to secure the services of his fellow Italian.

Tonali’s consistently impressive performances with both Italy’s under-19s and Brescia have made him hot property in his homeland, and he has already recorded three assists in seven Serie B matches so far this season.

He has started every league game for his team in the early stages of 2018/19 and his current contract at the club runs until 2021.

Everton transfer news: Marco Silva considering shock move for former Arsenal and Manchester City star Samir Nasri

Samir Nasri is being lined up for a shock move to Everton once his drugs ban expires.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder is a free agent after leaving Turkish club Antalyaspor in January and keen to return to the Premier League.

Marco Silva is reportedly lining up a shock move for Nasri

He is currently one month away from the expiration of his 18-month drug ban for taking supplements on the World Anti-Doping Agency banned list whilst receiving intravenous treatment at an LA clinic in 2016.

However, the two-time Premier League winner will be able to train with clubs from next month and Marco Silva is reportedly eyeing up Nasri as cover to talisman Gylfi Sigurdsson and summer signing Richarlison.

According to the Daily Mail, the struggles of £27million signing Cenk Tosun have caused concern amongst Silva and the rest of his Toffees staff.

With former club Besiktas keen on taking Tosun back on loan in January, extra funds will likely be reserved to sign a proven goalscorer – meaning a cheap free transfer for Nasri could suit all parties.

The 31-year-old spent nine trophy-laden years in England with Arsenal and Manchester City

The former France international arrived in England back in 2008 and initially struggled to make a massive impact at the Emirates after being billed as the next Zinedine Zidane.

It was in the 2010-11 season where the playmaker began to show is best form, resulting in Manchester City swooping in. He left in 2017 after his sole season on loan with Sevilla, before the drugs ban came into account.

Sevilla: The Surprise La Liga Leaders

Sevilla have known high and lows in a very short time span. From the exhilarating start to life under former coach Jorge Sampaoli back in the 2016/17 season, where the Andalusian club were briefly even considered outside shots for the title, last campaign brought with it three different coaches, three different ideas and ultimately three different ways of not hitting expectations. Sitting top of LaLiga after eight match days this time around, it is time to be optimistic once more.

After impressing at Girona during his first season in charge of a LaLiga outfit, Pablo Machin was an interesting appointment from Los Nervionenses. His work at the Catalan club could not be questioned, their promotion and subsequent top-half finish in the Spanish top flight were marvellous achievements, but there was still doubt about how his system and style would transfer over to a club like Sevilla.

At Girona, Machin championed a formation that deployed three central defenders at the back and provided wing backs for his side’s width. His attacking options had a certain amount of freedom, but their aim was to be a spring-loaded threat on the counter attack. Machin’s style brought the best out of the likes of Portu, Cristhian Stuani and Borja Garcia, who enjoyed terrific form in Primera in 2017/18, as the former duo scored goals at an incredible rate for a newly promoted side.

Rather than adapt his tactics to his new squad, Machin has employed the exact same framework in his early months as Sevilla boss. Using full backs or converted wingers as his width at wing back, the summer arrival of Andre Silva gave the Spaniard his Stuani-esque centre-forward option up front. Pablo Sarabia has continued his terrific form of the last year or so as a member of the supporting cast in attack, while the likes of Ever Banega, Franco Vazquez and Roque Mesa give Machin the most quality than he has had in central midfield during his managerial career to date.

Tomas Vaclik has been an inspired signing in goal, bringing a consistent, omnipresent reliability to a position which had been a problem area for months for Sevilla, while injuries to key defensive options Sergio Escudero and Gabriel Mercado haven’t shaken their side’s foundations too much. Daniel Carrico has returned from injury and slotted straight in at centre back, as Machin’s style looks to produce performances that are of a higher quality than the sum of his squad’s collective parts.

Sevilla’s 3-4-2-1 system can allow them to look after possession nicely when given an opportunity, but is similarly a great set up for counter-attacking football after absorbing pressure in tough games. Across eight league games, they have scored 18 goals, but more importantly Los Nervionenses have conceded just eight.

While Sevilla certainly don’t boast the meanest of defences, they have struck up a good balance between exploiting weak defences to romp to big victories, and having an organised system that can sit back and weather storms. Andre Silva and Wissam Ben Yedder are enjoying their football and have a dozen goals between them in league action, while both Jesus Navas and Pablo Sarabia have offered four assists apiece from Sevilla’s right-hand side.

After initial doubts over whether Machin’s style would suit a higher-quality Sevilla squad, the last month has proven what organisation and consistency can do. While teams around them such as Real Madrid and Barcelona are struggling to rotate personnel and maintain a similar style and level of performance, Los Nervionenses already have a grasp of their best eleven and how to chop and change during congested weeks of fixtures. Starting their competitive action early in the qualifying stages of the Europa League has perhaps worked in their favour.

There may not be much in the way of unpredictability for Sevilla this season, as their coach believes in sticking steadfastly to his style of play and has clear successes to show for it. Inevitably, that will lead to some opposing tacticians finding a way to frustrate them across the course of a long season.

For now, however, Los Nervionenses are enjoying their football, scoring goals and have taken a huge confidence boost by heading into an international break at the summit of LaLiga. Recent weeks suggest that their positive run could stretch for a long while yet.

Tottenham transfer news: Club target Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake with Jan Vertonghen injured and out of contract in the summer

Tottenham are targeting Nathan Ake in their search for a new centre-back.

The club confirmed that Jan Vertonghen’s hamstring injury will keep him out of action until December and Ake, report The Sun, is thought to be valued at around £40million.

Vertonghen injured his hamstring against Huddersfield at the end of September

The 23-year-old has impressed for Eddie Howe’s side so far this season and is also a full Dutch international.

He moved to Chelsea’s academy from Feyenoord in 2011 at the age of 16 and, after loan spells at Reading, Norwich and Bournemouth, made the move to the south coast permanent, with the Cherries paying around £20m in 2017.

Ake has been at Bournemouth since his £20m move from Chelsea in 2017

Vertonghen, meanwhile, is one of the club’s most popular players, in addition to being one of the longest serving.

The 31-year-old, who will be 32 in April, signed from Ajax in 2012 and has been ever present in the back line since.

His current contract expires at the end of the season and in September explained the club may trigger a clause in the deal that would see him remain until 2020.

“My contract is expiring at the end of the season, but Tottenham have an option to extend it with one year,” he said.

“I think they will take up the option. We’ll see what happens.”

Rangers transfer news: Liverpool starlet Ryan Kent willing to complete permanent Ibrox transfer

Liverpool starlet Ryan Kent would consider joining Rangers on a permanent deal having impressed since agreeing a loan switch with the Ibrox club.

21-year-old winger Kent penned a temporary deal with the Gers in July as Steven Gerrard used his Liverpool connections to raid his former club’s youth team.

Kent has been praised by Gerrard for putting in some fine performances for Rangers

He has caught the eye north of the border, turning out 17 times in all competitions and chipping in with two goals and one assist.

Kent has only ever made one senior appearance for his parent club – he started a 2-2 draw with Exeter in the FA Cup in 2016 – and the majority of his last few years at Anfield have been spent away from Merseyside on loan.

It is unlikely he has a part to play in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team set-up, even if he continues impressing for Rangers, and the youngster has admitted he would be open to returning to Ibrox on permanent terms.

Asked about continuing his career with Rangers, Kent said: “It’s something I’d consider. The fans are great here.

“Rangers are an amazing club, but that’s a conversation they need to have with Liverpool, not me.”

Kent has not played for Liverpool since making his debut in January 2016

Rangers have won just half their eight league matches to date to sit sixth in the Scottish Premiership. They remain without a defeat in every other competition though, progressing through the Europa League knockout rounds to reach the group stage, and making it to the semi-finals of Scotland’s League Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Spurs linked with shock move for Chinese Super League star Cedric Bakambu

Tottenham are interested in signing Beijing Guoan forward Cedric Bakambu, according to reports.

Bakambu, the DR Congo international, has enjoyed a prolific spell in the Chinese Super League since swapping Villarreal for Beijing earlier this year, going on to net 19 times for the club in just 23 appearances.

Bakambu has enjoyed a successful stay in China since moving to Beijing Guoan in February

He’s helped Beijing Guoan into fourth in the CSL, and currently sits fifth in the competition’s scoring charts.

However, Bakambu’s Chinese adventure could be coming to an end when the European transfer window reopens in January.

According to L’Est Republican, Tottenham have already ‘laid the groundwork’ to secure a deal for Bakambu in the ‘very near future’.

Earlier this year, Spurs became the first team to not sign a single player in the summer since the transfer window was introduced in 2003, but there are suggestions Mauricio Pochettino could dip into the market in the winter.

The reported interest in Bakambu comes as Spurs are linked with signing a new centre-forward to play back-up to Harry Kane, following the struggles endured in north London by the players previously and presently tasked with playing that role, Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente.

Bakambu made his name by impressing in La Liga with Villarreal

27-year-old Bakambu started his career with Sochaux in his native France, before playing in Turkey then Spain, where he enjoyed a productive two-and-a-half year spell with Villarreal.

Beijing Guoan completed the signing of Bakambu for a reported £35.4million on February 28, one day before the 2018 CSL season got under way.

Everton transfer news: Toffees striker Oumar Niasse set to be offer escape route by Turkish giants Galatasaray

Everton striker Oumar Niasse could get a possible escape route out of the club as Galatasaray consider a second loan offer in January, according to Fanatik.
After a tough time at Goodison Park, the Senegal international was the subject of intense transfer speculation in the summer, with Toffees boss Marco Silva seemingly not a fan of the forward.

Everton striker Oumar Niasse

Niasse, 28, looked set to leave Goodison Park in the summer but Everton pulled the plug on a proposed loan move to Galatasaray at the last minute.

The striker, who is yet to score in six appearances so far this term, remains unhappy at his bit-part status on Merseyside and is keen to assess his options.

Niasse could be offered another potential escape route with Galatasaray preparing a second loan bid.

The Turkish giants are unable to bring in the Senegalese forward permanently due to Financial Fair Play regulations but are confident of snapping him up in January.
