Sadio Mane’s reported summer transfer from Liverpool to Real Madrid is ‘basically dead’, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
Recent reports have claimed Los Blancos will try to sign Mane, the Senegal forward, from Liverpool when the transfer window reopens following the return of Zinedine Zidane as the club’s manager.
Zidane was keen on adding Mane to his squad towards the end of last season, though his decision to resign at the end of the campaign ended Real’s talks over the player.
Since the Frenchman’s reappointment as manager, however, Mane has again been linked with a move to the Bernabeu – especially as the 26-year-old is currently enjoying a truly superb period of form.

Real are expected to spend heavily this summer following Zidane’s return to the dug out, and renewed interest in Mane was logical.
However, there is almost no chance the Senegal international will leave for Spain this summer.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague provided an update on the transfer on YouTube, confirming Real’s links with Mane as ‘basically dead’.
“We do know for certain that Zidane wanted Mane to come [last] summer,” Balague said. “Conversations took place, as in Real Madrid showed interest in him.

“But of course Zidane left, and that was that.
“So it was an easy story to recover – and that’s what has happened.
“The story’s out there again but the problem is Liverpool have basically no interest whatsoever in getting rid of Mane.
“There is no buyout clause. There is no way to actually get Mane out of Liverpool.
“So with that in mind I would say that story is basically dead.”
This update will be music to the ears of the Liverpool support, with Mane firmly establishing himself as one of the club’s most important players under Jurgen Klopp.
