Neil Mellor, the former Liverpool striker, has discussed a rumoured summer swoop for Nabil Fekir.
The Reds are said to have renewed their interest in Fekir, the France forward, following their failed attempts to sign him last summer.
A deal appeared to be all but agreed to bring Fekir to Anfield from Lyons, but the plug was pulled at the eleventh hour meaning the 25-year-old remained with his hometown club.
He enjoyed another good season, scoring 12 times and creating a further nine goals in all competitions, and reports in France claim Liverpool are back in for Fekir this summer.
While Liverpool’s interest has been downplayed in the English media, the club clearly admire Fekir and it would not be a surprise to see them swoop for him should he become available.

And Mellor, who was part of Liverpool’s academy before breaking into their first-team in the early 2000s, has backed a move for Fekir – though raised doubts over whether he would be able to break into Jurgen Klopp’s already excellent midfield.
Mellor, speaking exclusively to AmericanGambler.com, said: “He’s done very well for Lyon; he scored a very important goal for them to progress through the Champions League group stages this season.
“He’s an attacking midfield player who contributes goals.

“There wasn’t too much pressure on the midfield to score goals last season because the front three scored so many again.
“Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is perhaps that player, when fit, who can get goals from midfield.
“There is no doubt Nabil has the quality but it’s whether he can come into what is already a very competitive area within the Liverpool squad.”
