Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea stars in best XI of players who are in the final year of their contract

Juventus are the masters of pulling off a free transfer coup and they have already set their sights on Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.

Over recent years they have signed Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot and Dani Alves for nothing.

The Serie A club are reportedly hoping to sign Eriksen in the summer of 2020 as the Denmark star enters the final 12 months of his contract at Spurs.

There are a number of high profile stars who are nearing the end of their current deals and could be available for free next summer.

Here at talkSPORT.com, we have put together the best XI of players who are out of contract next year.

Goalkeeper

Reports had suggested that David De Gea had already agreed a bumper new contract with Manchester United that would see him get paid £350,000-a-week.

There has been no sign of him signing a new deal and he looks set to run down the final year of his deal.

The Red Devils would be reluctant to see him go, despite a dip in form at the end of last season, and will be doing all they can to convince him to stay.

Defence

There were plenty of centre-back to choose from with Tottenham pair Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen both soon to be out of contract.

Stefan Savic has established himself as a top class central defender at Atletico Madrid and is still only 28.

Liverpool’s Joel Matip is also entering the final 12 months of his contract and would likely have plenty of suitors if he did leave for free.

Left-back Layvin Kurzawa has fallen out of favour at Paris Saint-Germain in the last season. He is still only 26 and has previously been named in the Ligue 1 team of the season.

Another PSG defender at right-back who is coming to the end of his contract is Thomas Meunier.

Midfield

There is a wealth of midfield talent who are coming to the end of their current deals.

Christian Eriksen could yet leave Tottenham this summer if he is sold to a team in Europe but is in the final year of his contract.

Chelsea teenage star Callum Hudson-Odoi has been subject of several bids by Bayern Munich but they were turned down. The Blues could lose one of their brightest young talents if they cannot get him to sign.

On the opposite flank, Willian is also running out of time on is current deal.

Nemanja Matic could leave Manchester United next summer for nothing while David Silva has already signalled that this season will be his last at Manchester City.

Mario Gotze is also soon to be out of contract as his second spell at Borussia Dortmund may come to an end. He previously said he regretted his decision to join Bayern Munich so his next destination will be an interesting one.

Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser was linked with moves away from the south coast club this summer and it is thought he will leave on a free transfer next year.

Forwards

Edinson Cavani may be 32 but he still scores goals week in week out for PSG. He has 194 goals in 281 games for the Ligue 1 side and has won five league titles in his six seasons there.

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has been one of the most prolific in the Bundesliga in recent seasons. The 23-year-old will be in high demand if he is available on a free transfer next summer.

Dries Mertens has scored 110 goals in the six seasons he has been at Napoli and, despite being 32, would have plenty to offer teams if he does indeed run down his contract.
