Liverpool are set to bring one of the brightest young talents in English football to Anfield.
England Under-17s midfielder Harvey Elliott has chosen to join the Reds after rejecting a scholarship at Fulham, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Elliot is the youngest player ever to feature in the Premier League, having come on as a substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers in May aged 16 years and 30 days.
He has attracted interest from around European football, with the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig interested in the young Englishman.
But Elliot has picked Liverpool as his next club and the Reds are now thrashing out terms over a ‘significant’ compensation package with Fulham for the 16-year-old.
As part of the agreement with Jurgen Klopp’s side, Elliott will move from scholarship wages on to a professional deal in April, when he turns 17.
Elliott will become the second sought-after teenager to join Liverpool this summer, after the Reds secured a deal for Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg.
Van den Berg joined from PEC Zwolle last month, with the 17-year-old centre-back rejecting interesting from numerous clubs across Europe to move to Merseyside.
Elliott hinted at a move to Merseyside last week when he followed Van den Berg and a number of other Liverpool players on Instagram.
Fulham boss Scott Parker certainly appears in no doubt that the teenager will go on to be a top player.
“He is a technically gifted football player,” he said, speaking earlier this year. “A special talent. He has got a naturalness about him, an ease.
“He is very clean with the ball, can handle the ball very well for someone so young.
“Harvey has played all his career with kids his own age and now is probably the first time he is playing against men.
“Often you find that transition is very difficult for young players.
“But with him you wouldn’t know and that’s probably the sign of a top player or someone who has the ability to be a top player because the transition he has made has been very smooth.”
