Marcelo Bielsa scouted Liverpool starlet Ryan Kent on Sunday ahead of a potential loan deal.
The Leeds United boss delayed a pre-season trip to Australia in order to watch the Reds’ 3-1 victory over Bradford.
Rangers are still keen on signing the 22-year-old for a second successive loan stint, with Steven Gerard keen to bring the winger back to Ibrox.
However, Jurgen Klopp is yet to sanction a deal for Kent, who scored six times and made four assists in the Scottish Premiership last season.
And Bielsa’s scouting mission is sure to be of interest to the German, who allowed Harry Wilson to join Derby County last year.
The Argentine was reportedly also watching the Wales international, but it was Kent who caught the attention of Bielsa.
Kent had a hand in all three goals at Valley Parade, with Klopp promising to give the youngster every opportunity to impress in the three-game USA trip – with Liverpool facing Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting Lisbon.
He said: “The door is always open, but the boys have to go through by themselves. It is always like this in each pre-season.”
