Kieran Trippier set to leave Tottenham for Atletico Madrid in £25m deal

Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier is understood to be on the verge of completing a move to Atletico Madrid.

Mauricio Pochettino is happy to offload Trippier this summer after a disappointing season from the England full-back.

Trippier has made 114 appearances for Tottenham since arriving from Burnley in 2015

Pochettino has two other good options at right-back in Serge Aurier and youngster Kyle Walker-Peters and can reinvest the funds he receives for the 28-year-old.

Despite his struggles last season, Tripper’s stock remains high across Europe, given his impressive performances at the 2018 World Cup.

Juventus and Napoli have been linked with the former Burnley man but it is Atletico who have followed up their interest.

And the Spanish giants are understood to be edging closer to finalising a deal of around £25m to secure Trippier’s signature.

Tottenham fly to Singapore on Wednesday as they continue their pre-season preparations and Trippier is not expected to be on the plane as he negotiates his exit.
