Chelsea transfer news: Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson interested in bringing back Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Selhurst Park

Roy Hodgson confirmed Crystal Palace would be interested in signing Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek, if he becomes available.

The midfielder shone at Selhurst Park last season, scoring two goals and grabbing three assists as the Eagles avoided relegation.

Loftus-Cheek could be on the way back to Palace if Hodgson has his say

His form in south London convinced Gareth Southgate to take the 22-year-old to Russia as part of the England World Cup squad.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri finally gave Loftus-Cheek a start in the Europa League victory over Vidi FC (his first for the club in 18 months) but speculation about him leaving the club have only intensified.

And former Three Lions boss Hodgson admitted he would be more than happy to have the midfielder back, if he were to become available.

Hodgson said: “We admire him.

“Like a lot of other clubs I’m sure when the day comes when he becomes available for transfer, we will be sticking our noses into that. But whether we will get him again that’s another matter.

“He did an outstanding job for us when he came here and really for us answered all the questions that we hoped he would answer.”

Loftus-Cheek was a force to be reckoned with at Palace

Although Southgate left the starlet out of his most recent England squad, his decision to select Jadon Sancho, Mason Mount and James Maddison suggest youth will be the way forward.
