Arsenal transfer news: Boca Juniors and Argentina forward Cristian Pavon still on Gunners wishlist

Cristian Pavon is still a top transfer target for Arsenal and the club could move for the forward in January, according to reports.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a terrific campaign with Boca Juniors last time out, scoring six times and registering 11 assists.

He was rewarded with a call-up to the Argentina World Cup squad, making four appearances for his country in Russia.

The departure of Ivan Gazidis to AC Milan has caused a shake-up at the Emirates, but it is understood Pavon remains a top priority.

Despite signing a new contract with the Argentinean side, a €50million (£44million) buy-out clause was inserted to ward off competition for his signature.

However, according to the Daily Mail, this has not deterred Arsenal who could make a move in January.

Boca President Daniel Angelici recently told TeamTalk a deal will only be done if it satisfies all parties.

He said: “Pavon stays, signed for four more years. The clause is 50 million euros, which was what we wanted to be calm. We wanted to sell it when we understood that it was the necessary moment (sic).”
