Arsenal can – and should – offer Crystal Palace more than £40million for Wilfried Zaha, according to talkSPORT host Darren Lewis.
It is understood the Gunners have a budget of £45million for transfers this summer, plus whatever the club can generate from player sales.
However, Lewis questions this, using their activity this summer to suggest they have more money than they’re letting on.
“I think Arsenal have got more money than they’re making out,” he said.
“If you’re bidding £20million for William Saliba, £17million for Kieran Tierney and £40million for Zaha, then you’ve got more money than you’re making out.”

And Lewis, who writes for the Daily Mirror, explained why the first offer was ‘scandalous’ and ‘disrespectful’.
“Arsenal have come in with a scandalously low offer for a player who is incredibly valuable to Crystal Palace,” he told the Sports Bar.
“If you want to sign Zaha, come to the club with an offer than adequately reflects the boy’s capability, because he’s an outstanding player.
“He is a player who is worth a lot more than £40million. It frankly disrespects Crystal Palace.”
Arsenal’s initial bid came after Zaha’s brother revealed the winger wants to leave Palace and join the Gunners – because they’re his boyhood club.
“Wilfried will always hold Crystal Palace and their fans in the highest regard and all the support they have given means the world to him,” Judicael told Sky Sports News.
“It’s my brother’s dream though, to play for Arsenal.
“Given all that Wilfried has given to Crystal Palace to help them remain a Premier League club, I hope Palace will be able to see their way to agreeing a deal with Arsenal that allows Wilfried to realise his dream of playing European football for the club he’s supported since childhood.”
