Arsenal are reportedly close to announcing Monchi as their new sporting director.

The Spaniard, who worked with Gunners boss Unai Emery at Sevilla, left Roma by mutual consent last week.

Suso has starred for AC Milan this season

And Italian outlet Tuttosport say Monchi’s arrival could be vital in Arsenal’s attempts to sign AC Milan star Suso this summer.

The Gunners have already shown an interest in the former Liverpool winger after watching him in Milan’s 2-1 win over Chievo on Saturday.

And reports claim Monchi tried to sign Suso during his time as Roma’s sporting director and could try to do so again if he takes up the same role at the Emirates.

It is believed Milan want to keep Suso, who has a £34.3million release clause, but a possible sale would free up funds for the Serie A club to spend on new players.

The 25-year-old has scored seven goals and registered eight assists in 30 appearances this season.
